So while everyone was sleeping at home, I had the chance the see Scary Spice at Debenhams on Oxford Street. Today at 9:30 a.m. she was making an appearance for a lingerie company. Hundreds of people were there to see her along with all the British photographers. Crazy to all that they scream at her on stage. Milena, John, and I went to try to get a few pictures. During her presentation, I got a few good pictures. Afterwards, she walked right past me and I got another picture being a few feet away from her. Her fans are crazy, doing whatever they can to talk to her.
After this, we walked around Oxford Street to a few shops. I wasn’t too impressed with Oxford Street, as it seemed that you could find these stores in America.
After this we came back to the residence hall and made lunch. Right after lunch I happened to have checked my email and saw that EUSA sent me an email telling me that I had an interview at 3 p.m. at T-F. I received this email at 1:15. After hurrying to get my dress suit on and researching the company even further, I headed over to the Moorgate tube stop to find my company. I walked around frantically trying to find the place, but it took me a while. I walked around for about 30 minutes trying to find this place. Finally, about 5 minutes before my interview, I found the place and got there on time. When I got there, I had a few minutes to collect myself and get ready for the interview.
The guy that interviewed me was very straightforward, which I liked. He told me that internship work may not be the most glamorous at times, but it will definitely pay off in the end. He told me that I will be communicating with investment analysts, asset managers, and more different finance employees around the world. He said it will give me a great idea of what everyone does and will show me more of what I will want to do. He told me he will throw me in the deep end when I get there, giving me as much work as they can. I am looking forward to this, as I learn best when I have way too much to do to keep my busy. At the end of the interview, he told me that he liked how focused I seemed to be and said I would make a great addition to the company. The company is only about 12 people, so he said I will be working with everyone there. I am really looking forward to it since I know I will learn a lot about the finance world and more about what I would want to do next year after I graduate.
After the interview I came back to my place and got ready to go sightsee some more. Milena, John, Zach, Megan, and I went down to Green Park and Buckingham Palace. Green Park was filled with people laying around, and Buckingham Palace is huge. We then walked down further to get a picture with guards that were outside of another royal building. Here we got a picture taken with the guard while he tried not to smile too much. Cool to see their traditions with the different marches and everything.
We got back and had a pub night right down the street from my residence hall. All of the EUSA students were there, including Iowa, USC, and Chapman. I met a few people from USC and Chapman which was kind of cool to talk about California with them.
After this about 5 of us decided to take the tube down to Trafalgar Square and Big Ben again. Right by Big Ben, we began talking to this Englishman about American politics. Interesting to see what others think of us. He knew about as much as I did and was very knowledgeable about the president and past presidents, as he made a joke about Bill Clinton.
