Whenever I travel, it’s the time that I realize how important family is in my life. Being far away, living in a place that sometimes seems completely different, and having language barriers often makes me think of familiar people and relationships. One thing that has been consistent through my entire life has been family. I’ve always received tremendous support from my parents, brothers (and sisters in law ), grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins. In everything I’ve done in my life, family has influenced that in some way or another. I can’t thank everyone enough for the support when I’ve been down, the encouragement when things are going well, and for understanding my unconventional way of life.
The more I travel, the more I appreciate my family. When at home, it’s easy to take it for granted. But being thousands of miles away and making it not easy to go to Stockton or Iowa, it’s something I miss. I never thought I’d miss cornfields, but it crosses my mind (anyone from outside the midwest has now officially called me crazy).
So I just wanted to say thank you for being my family (although many of you were forced into it), and a great one at that. I really look forward to coming back in August to see everyone!
